Support For Carers

No matter who you care for, support is available

At Glasgow South Carers Centre, we offer a range of support to help unpaid carers feel informed, supported and less alone.

Whether you’re looking for someone to talk to, need advice about your rights and benefits, or would like help accessing local services, our carers support workers are here to help.

We can provide one-to-one support, information and advice, emotional support, opportunities to meet other carers, and help with accessing activities, training, funding and wellbeing opportunities.

We can also help you understand your options and make sure your voice is heard when it comes to your caring role.  The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 recognises the important role of unpaid carers and gives carers rights to support, information and advice to help them stay well and continue in their caring role.

An Adult Carer Support Plan (ACSP) gives you the opportunity to talk about your caring role and the support you may need, both now and in the future. It helps you and the people supporting you understand what matters to you, identify any challenges you may be facing and look at what support could make things easier.

The plan can also help identify the right services and support for you, so that you can get help early and avoid reaching a point where things become overwhelming or reach crisis point.

The process starts with a conversation about your caring role, how caring affects your day-to-day life, and what is important to you.

Our support is flexible and based around what matters most to you, because every caring situation is different.
